Coach Meaders Throws Training Program

Our specialized throws training offers an in-depth exploration of the key techniques and training methods essential for success in shot put, discus, hammer and javelin. Whether an athlete is looking to refine their technique, increase their strength, or pursue a potential college scholarship, our tailored coaching programs are designed to meet individual goals and help athletes progress steadily toward their dreams. Over the course of the training, athletes will receive instruction designed to develop their skills from fundamental techniques to advanced strategies.

Get to know Coach Meaders:

As the co-founder of Start to Finish Athletics and a seasoned college track and field coach with over 30 years of experience, I am incredibly excited to return to my home state of North Carolina. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of coaching, mentoring, and working closely with athletes at various levels, helping them unlock their full potential and compete at their highest levels.

At S2F Athletics, we are committed to fostering a community of excellence by bringing together elite college track and field coaches, experienced athletes, dedicated parents, and passionate trainers. Our goal is to share knowledge, strategies, and insights that can help athletes excel in their disciplines, whether they are just starting out or aiming for national and international competition.

In addition to our comprehensive lineup of camps and clinics designed to develop skills across all track and field events, I am personally enthusiastic about offering year-round private coaching focused specifically on the throwing events. 

My passion is helping athletes see their potential and achieve their goals, whether it’s mastering proper throws, improving performance, or simply enjoying the sport at a competitive level. I look forward to welcoming new athletes into the S2F Athletics family and working together to make their athletic dreams a reality.

What Participants Will Learn:

Proper Technique

Detailed breakdown of foot placement, grip, body rotation, arm strike, and release mechanics for each throw.

Training Regimens

Customized workouts focused on strength, explosiveness, balance, and coordination to enhance overall performance.

Discus and Shot Put

Extensive focus on technique refinement, grip adjustments, rotational and glide techniques, and safety considerations.

Hammer Throw /Javelin

An overview of the throwing mechanics, safety protocols, and basic drills. Athletes will get hands-on experience during their session.

Equipment Use

Athletes are required to bring their own implements, including shot put, discus, hammers and javelin, ensuring familiarity and comfort with their personal equipment.

Additional Highlights:

Our training sessions are ideal for athletes seeking to elevate their throwing skills, whether they are beginners or looking to refine their technique at a competitive level. Join us to develop your skills, learn effective training strategies, and gain a deeper understanding of the throws disciplines.

Training Options:

Personal training sessions can be event specific or split into two throwing events. Individual Sessions are 90 minutes long. Group Sessions are two hours.
